Home Stretch–Texas & Colorado

Posted by on Aug 15, 2018

We have 5 concerts left in the USA, and I have to admit,my excitement is gaining about going home. That has two meanings at the moment. Our next stop is Colorado, where I grew up, and where Randy and I lived for the 11 years we were not doing music.itsaboy It is where I will see my close friend Kathy (who co-wrote “My World is Out There”) and meet my new nephew Thomas – born this morning – and reunite with lots of family and friends.

Increasingly, I am missing our new home of Ireland. It feels good to miss our new place and the friends we have made there so far. It means we are settling in.

Much calmer after a walk on the beach.

Looking forward to seeing this soon!

We’ve missed an entire summer’s worth of news and activity and I am anxious to catch up with neighbors and friends there.

At the moment, we are in Texas with my close friend Kris, who introduced me to Kathy many years ago, and her husband Sean. They play in an Irish band called O’Malarkey and last night, we had a great time goofing around with cover songs, and harmonies in their living room. It made me think – what do musicians do on their night off? Music! We love our job.

Tonight, we’re looking forward to hearing the gorgeous voice of Brian Ralph, originally from Dublin, as he opens our house concert in San Antonio. Tomorrow, we’re back at the St. Mark’s Coffeehouse Series, a series we got to officially kick off last summer. Then, it’s three concerts in Colorado (see our On Tour page for details), and back home to Ireland.

It’s bittersweet ending this tour, as we do not know what the future holds. We know there are new songs, and ideas for more new songs. They’ll get written, and we’ll record them. A new release in 2019 is our goal.

Thanks to the generosity of our guests and hosts, we have been able to set aside funds for our annual volunteer trip to Romania!

We’ll be juggling school, music, and some other form of job in the coming year or two as we work get the school and other bills paid, and we don’t know what that means for touring in the USA during that time. We will get back here from time to time, but likely in shorter spurts and more concentrated areas. Stay tuned as we figure it all out. Thank you, as always, for taking time to read these little posts and for supporting what we do!

  1. Dear Bell and Randy,

Thanks for the CD you have Kate for us! I am listening to it now for the second time. Pat says sounds better than on last CD. I noticed a change toward smoothness. Auschwitz was a surprise. I grew up with Jewish high school friends in Brooklyn whose grandparents and friends fled Europe before that tragedy. Many of them lost relatives at the camps. I was their “goy” — the non-Jew who ran errands and turned lights on and off on Sabbath. They were close to God through his Word and promises, which h
gave them hope and strength to survive.

    Best,
    Dom and Pat
