Music, Travel, Service – Part 3 SERVICE

SERVICE

House-sitting with these beautiful views, we really do feel spoiled here, but lately, my mind has been on our “service” goal.

Randy and I are so grateful for the opportunities that have presented themselves since we took the leap of faith to sell our home and move on from our day jobs to pursue music, travel, and service for a while–building a home in Juarez, Mexico through Casas por Cristos, and playing at the Makando rehab facility in Poland…but as we looked forward to what we might have to give,   we were beginning to get discouraged as we researched ways to volunteer.

The main challenge we have faced is that many volunteer programs we find online are expensive to participate in. In addition to our time, many programs often require a large “operating fee” far greater than living expenses in the local economy. This is something we asked our friends to pray about and not only did we get immediate feedback that they were with us, but we got a great suggestion, and an email introduction at just the right time. Since I began typing this, the whole situation has turned around.

In mid-December, we’ll be heading to ROMANIA to volunteer for a month with Vis de Copil (A Child’s Dream). There, we will help with some organizational tasks for events and music for Christmastime, and things like painting, sorting donations, and basically whatever is needed that we know how to do or can learn. We are really excited about this, and grateful to them for taking us on.

If you want to support us in a general way as we travel with the goal of music and service this year, you can buy our music or tell your friends about us, using the Store tab above.

If you are interested to see more specific information and a budget for the ROMANIA TRIP, as some of you have asked how you can help, or maybe you are just curious about what this costs, and may be planning something similar…you are welcome to view my working document here.

Thank you for being part of the adventure!

Beki (and Randy)
